A Word From God About Effort, Change and the Successful Life You Long For

If you truly want to move forward in life, it’s going to take some effort on your part.

If your desire is to get out of debt, you’re going to have to decide what bill to focus on first, how much you will pay every month. Then you’ll have to stick to that schedule. If you want to lose weight, you’ll have to change your eating habits and establish an exercise program. In other words, success require CHANGE. Your debt release, weight loss and any other goals you have are not going to happen automatically.

I am reminded of a story in John 5. Let’s begin by giving you some background:

Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. There was a invalid man who lay by that pool year after year. Someone else always made it in the pool first. He missed his opportunity to be healed for 38 years! Did you get that? Thirty eight years!

Jesus visited this area where many sick people lay. He specifically focused on this man and asked this question:

Do you want to become well? [Are you really in earnest about getting well?]

If you truly want to move forward in life, it’s going to take effort

You do have to wonder how much the man wanted to be healed, right? After all, he missed it for 38 years.

The man responded by making an excuse.

…Sir, I have nobody when the water is moving to put me into the pool; but while I am trying to come [into it] myself, somebody else steps down ahead of me.

What excuses are you making?

Are you waiting for someone else?

I did for 16 years believing the ministry I was part of would open doors for me. I depended on the leader’s knowledge and expertise. He said we were going to do great things. What a shock to learn he didn’t have the information I thought he had.

Because I wasted so much of my life, I don’t wait on anyone anymore. If want to see a movie bad enough, I don’t wait for my schedule to line up with my friends. I go alone. I’ve gone to restaurants alone. Once I went to Disneyland by myself.

I have friends that will do the same. If we can get together, fine. If we can’t, we don’t wait around for each other. One particular friend and I were in the same cult. She pursues her interests and I pursue mine. We spend time with each other whenever we can.

You can live successfully if you make the effort. Learn new habits, gain new information, spend lots of time in the Word and prayer, get rid of negative thoughts and train yourself to tune in to what the Word of God says.

Some believe doing activities solo is pathetic. But what if the people in your life don’t share your interests? You will miss out on many wonderful experiences if you are waiting for these individuals to join you.

Who are YOU waiting for?

Our God is compassionate. Jesus gave that man what he needed. Healing! God will give you what you need to but you will always need to follow an instruction. Notice the man still had to make an effort:

…Get up! Pick up your bed (sleeping pad) and walk!

This invalid saw others get healed so it was easy to believe he’d walk if he ever made it into the pool. Listening to a man you’ve never seen before ask you a weird question and then tell you to get up and walk takes a lot more faith in my opinion. When you don’t yield and do what it takes the first time, the situation only gets harder. You may find yourself having to do a task that is much more difficult.

Resolve to overcome all that is holding you back including self-satisfaction, laziness and fear. Partner with Heaven. Cooperate with God.

Child of God, Heavenly Father wants you to live the successful life you long for. However, it will take effort to get there. If you are not willing to learn new habits, gain new information, spend a great amount of time in the Word and prayer, get rid of negative thoughts and train yourself to tune in to what the Word of God says, you’ll going to be stuck in the same position you are in now. You’ll be like that invalid man who lay by the answer to his problems for 38 years never receiving what he so badly needed and wanted.

I am praying today that this does not describe you. God has so much for you. He loves you and wants you to experience His best.

Resolve to overcome all that is holding you back including self-satisfaction, laziness and fear. Partner with Heaven. Cooperate with God. The Father, Son, Holy Spirit, and the angels are on your side. Your angels stand ready to bring abundance into your life. The Holy Spirit stands ready to strengthen you as you meditate on the Word and come before God in prayer.

You may already know that I have declared 2017 as The Year of Great Change! Those changes can be yours if you want them.

Love,

Karin
