Not Making Progress as Fast as You'd Like? Here's What Might Be Missing!

If you are not making progress in your life as fast as you’d like I’d like you to read this message very carefully. It could be that you are failing to take an action that is necessary to get you from Point A to Point B.

Recently God spoke to me and helped me understand something I’ve wondered about for years. For a long time I was confused about why I didn’t progress as fast as some Christians. I’m not only talking about making money. Many Christians prosper in a lot of different areas and it doesn’t seem to take them nearly as long as it takes me. Why didn’t God move that way in my life?

I once met a woman who described standing on the Word for her needs. She said by the next day she had several items she prayed for. I couldn’t believe it especially after hearing bad language come out of her mouth. I wondered why God didn’t move as quickly for me especially when I was striving every day to live right. If I am aiming to walk in holiness, shouldn’t the blessings of God be poured on me in droves? The answer is yes and no. Yes, because holiness definitely plays a part in your progress. And no. Let me explain.

To make any kind of progress, you have to use your faith aggressively.

God showed me clearly that in many cases, I did not use my faith aggressively. I wasn’t fierce in my determination. Instead, I often yielded to timidness and fear. I had gone through bad experiences that shut me down. That woman I mentioned above was bold. As she talked about her situation, she said “I stood on my faith.” Her attitude was firm. That’s why God came through for her. Even though she used bad words, God looked at her heart and responded to her faith.

Her attitude reminds me of the woman in Luke 18. Do you remember that parable? Jesus told a story about a desperate woman. She sought the help of a judge who did not fear God and had no compassion for people. The judge ignored her pleas for a while but because she was so persistent he finally agreed to give her aid. Jesus told that parable specifically for encouraging you and I to be aggressive in our faith, to never give up.

Holiness is grand. Without it you won’t see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14). Having a heart to serve God is wonderful. In fact, these make your faith effective. Both please God. But He is also pleased with determined faith (Hebrews 11:6). God wants you to believe Him consistently

Often you do not make the progress you desire because you are not fierce enough in your determination.

Using your faith requires speaking His Word — His perfect will – over your life. That is how you release faith. You released faith with your mouth when you became Born Again (Romans 10:9-10). You will receive all of God’s benefits the same way: believe in your heart and confess with your mouth.  If you hang back in fear and insecurity, if you continue to let the negative past rule over you, you’re not going to progress the way you desire. You are putting faith in the wrong thing!

The correct Bible principle to use when you are seeking to progress in your spiritual walk, finances, weight loss, etc. is FAITH, BOLDNESS and CONSISTENCY. The Bible says the just shall LIVE by faith (there are four different verses in both the Old & New Testaments that say that. I challenge you to go on a treasure hunt and find them). Faith is a spiritual law. It’s a lifestyle.

I’m not saying you should compare yourself with anyone. God knows the way you take. He has a path for you to follow. But if you are hanging back, stop it now. Be bold. Be courageous. Get tough. Don’t back down. You are just as precious to God as any of His other children. He is saying to you: “I see your love for Me. I see your heart. Now trust Me. Believe and speak My Word continuously. Miracles are waiting.”
