Remember Those Who Face Persecution For the Faith

I’ve been thinking about this subject a lot lately. I can’t stop thinking about our brothers and sisters in Christ who are facing persecution because of the Christian faith.

You probably can’t imagine what it’s like to face death or imprisonment simply because you want to attend church or read your Bible. But in some parts of the world this is what Believers deal with every day.

Thinking about persecution makes me appreciate my religious freedom more. This was something coveted by this country’s forefathers and their reason for coming to this land. It became a part of the Constitution making it every man and woman’s right to worship in the way they wish. What a blessing!

Religious freedom gives millions all over this land the privilege of gathering together to freely worship during weekly services.  But there are those in Christ who don’t have this same opportunity. They are tortured, beaten and thrown into jail simply because they believe in Jesus. The Bible tells you in Hebrews 13:3 to remember them. You should keep them in your thoughts and pray for them as if you are going through the same.

God has opened up a practical opportunity to help you show love towards Believers mistreated for the sake of the Gospel.

When you get a chance, please visit http://www.prisoneralert.com. You will learn of someone arrested for their faith.  You can sign up to receive alerts, write an encouraging letter, and write governmental officials.  Even if you choose not to engage in any of these activities, take time to pray for those beaten, murdered or imprisoned. Pray for them who dish out the persecution! God is able to save and deliver them.

Rejoice in the spiritual freedom you enjoy each day. Give God praise for the chance to worship freely and read the Bible without fear.
